M-Governance and social, mobile analytics and cloud (SMAC)

SMAC (social, mobile, analytics and cloud) is the concept that the convergence of four technologies is currently driving business innovation. SMAC is the basis for an ecosystem that enables a business to transition from e-business to digital business. The four technologies improve business operations and help companies get closer to the customer with minimal overhead and maximum reach. The proliferation of structured and unstructured data created by mobile devices, wearable technology, connected devices, sensors, social media, loyalty card programs and website browsing is creating new business models built on customer-generated data. None of the four technologies can be an afterthought because it's the integration of social, mobile, analytics and cloud together that creates a competitive advantage and new business opportunities.

As per the need of today's interconnecting world and society, there is a requirement for a paradigm shift in the way government delivers information and services to the citizens which is possible through M-governance (an extension of E-governance to mobile platforms). Mobile technology today is the cheapest way of communication and the growth of mobile technology is also increasing rapidly day by day due to which even a common man can get access to the Govt. services.

Objectives of M-Governance includes:

  • To extend service where internet access is limited.
  • To Reach to the masses through the use of simplest technology.
  • To provide point to point delivery of government services in a personalized manner.
  • To improve government-citizen interface at all levels.
  • To improve operational efficiency.
  • To provide cost-effective services.
